With winter starting to gaze in our general direction, it’s time to refresh our memories about all the ways we can save on energy usage throughout the colder months. Thanks to the drop in temperatures, our bills usually start to rocket thanks to increased use of heating and electricity during the dark evenings, but there are plenty of ways to minimise the impact this has on our bills.

There has been an increase in the average UK house price during September, albeit only by 0.3%, while the annual property price growth has actually decreased by the same amount from 5.6% in August to 5.3% for this September gone. The data was recently released by the Nationwide Building Society who highlighted the fact that that the annual property price growth fluctuations have remained constant since the beginning of 2015, never rising above 6% nor falling below 3%.

Chancellor Phillip Hammond has announced that he is permanently closing the Help to Buy mortgage scheme which his predecessor George Osborne introduced in 2013 to help first time home buyers to get on to the property ladder.
